To conclude our topic learning about Under the Sea, Primary 3, 4 and 5 enjoyed a fun filled “Under the Sea” themed day. As well as getting to come to school dressed up as a sea creature, we had lots of fun dancing to sea shanties and playing games such as sharks and minnows, musical islands and port and starboard. We then got creative making mermaids along with lobster and jellyfish hats. A great day was had by everyone!
Primary 4 and 5 enjoyed a fun morning and afternoon with Mr Frank McCann from Sentinus and Mr Glenn McCaffrey (Parent/Link Engineer). The day was all about enthusing and engaging the children’s interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects and enabling them to take part in practical activities, in particular engineering and learning how it’s used in everyday life.
The children got to work together to make land buggies using K’nex. As can be seen from the pictures below, the day was a great success, and the range of buggies that were made was fantastic! No doubt we have some future engineers on our hands and we look forward to the next stage in the programme were the children under the expert guidance of Mr McCaffrey will design and construct a bridge made from paper which will go on display at the Young Innovators Celebration Day in June.
